1. How and when did you first discover CrossFit?
I first discovered Crossfit about 10 years ago from my best friend, Stu. He told me about it and we researched it on Crossfit.com.  Back then, there really weren’t a lot of CrossFit gyms you could go to so we literally just started doing the WOD’s at a 24 Hour Fitness.  We would watch each other and make sure we had good form and didn’t hurt ourselves. CrossFit has been a part of my workout routine off and on these past years.

2. What do you think sets Cannon apart from other gyms you have attended or workouts you have done in the past?

I must admit, I was sad when my other gym closed down. The people were really friendly and I liked the workout style.  But after it closed I decided to try out Cannon.  The first month wasn’t what I expected because I still had my old gym in mind, but I soon recognized how unique and effective the training style is here at Cannon and I realized it was the place for me. I absolutely love it here! The coaches are very supportive, friendly, and always make sure your technique is correct rather than focusing on how much weight you are pushing or how fast you can complete the WOD.  It’s an energetic atmosphere and everyone is very friendly. I’ve made some great friendships here!

3. What changes have you seen in yourself (physically and mentally) since joining Cannon?

Since joining Cannon I’ve gotten stronger physically as well as mentally, but I wanted to push myself further and lose weight and lean down. I spoke with Jeff Allen about my nutrition and diet and how i wanted to lose weight, gain muscle and he was more than willing to help me out. He put me on a strict diet that has helped me lose 17 pounds and 4 inches in my stomach! My endurance AND strength have both increased while the weight drops – pretty remarkable!

4. What goal have you achieved in the gym that you are most proud of and what future goals are you excited about pursuing? 

At this point I”m definitely proud of sticking to my diet and goals of losing weight and gaining muscle.  But I also have reached some specific, personal goals with the help of the Barbell Club.  I recently hit a 280 pound clean and jerk and 410 pound back squat! I look forward to continuing to strive towards pushing myself and achieving my RossFit body.
