3 Things to Consider When Making Daily Food Choices | Cannon Fitness and PerformanceWhen it comes to fueling your body throughout the day, you have a lot of options. How do you make the best food choices for your body?

Here are three things to consider when making daily food choices:

1. Beware of Restrictive Diets.

Following a specific diet puts a lot of restrictions on what you can and can’t eat. In the early stages of cleaning up your diet, you might have to become more strict with your food choices. However, sticking to a restrictive diet without any flexibility could wind up backfiring. Rather than counting calories and setting a limit, aim to eat whole, nutritious foods throughout the day. Or instead of telling yourself to eat zero sugar, try to avoid all processed or packaged foods. Keep some flexibility in your daily food choices by setting guidelines instead of restrictions.

2. Make it Personal.

When it comes to finding the best food choices for your body, make it personal. There is no magical formula or diet out there. Our bodies react differently to the same foods. So rather than mimicking someone else’s diet, discover what you need to eat on a daily basis to reach your personal performance and fitness goals. Working with a nutrition coach can help you figure out the specifics of your own unique meal plan.

3. Choose Wisely.

A bar of some kind for breakfast, a handful of popcorn or a few chips at lunch, and then a couple of slices of pizza for dinner might get you through the day. But are these choices going to help you with your fitness goals? The more often you make choices that include wholesome, nutritious foods, the more likely you are to have the energy for a great workout. You’ll also promote better recovery and maintain better mood and energy levels throughout the day.
